Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi is a form of Chinese martial arts which involves a series of movement performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Tai Chi, also called Tai Chi Chuan, is a non-competitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.
This discipline offers powerful self-defense techniques, but it is also referred to as ‘healing’ martial arts which come with many health benefits when practiced regularly. Tai Chi focuses on the proper flow of Qi or ‘Chi’, an energy force that flows through the body which has been proven to develop the muscle strength. Also, it improves physical balance, flexibility, and posture, and it enhances cardiovascular fitness. Often called as moving meditation, Tai Chi brings many benefits to psychological well-being as well, reducing anxiety and depression while cultivating mindfulness.
Tai Chi is beneficial for people of all ages who are in good health and seeking to maintain their health and fitness, but because of its low-impact style which doesn’t put much pressure on bones and joints, it is commonly practiced by the elderly providing them a great way to stay physically active. Additionally, for anyone who wishes to learn powerful self-defense moves in a non-strenuous and safe way, Tai Chi would be just the right choice!
USEFUL TIPS: Cotton is the best type of clothing to wear for Tai Chi practice, your clothes should be loose and comfortable. Lace-up shoes like the martial art shoes would be a good choice, however, some people like to practice barefoot. Please arrive on time and let your instructor know if it’s your first time.
